People extend and improve their homes for a range of reasons. In some cases, they need extra space. For example, when families grow, either with the birth of children or as a result of relatives moving in, new bathrooms complete with modern bathroom suites may be required.

On the other hand, some consumers extend or otherwise enhance their homes in order to add to their value. Even if they do not need the additional facilities, people can benefit from them if and when they come to sell their properties. To achieve the desired results, projects must be carefully planned. For example, if homeowners add a new bathroom, it is important that they select suitable contemporary bathroom suites that will appeal to potential buyers.

Meanwhile, research conducted by Simply Extend suggests that certain individuals revamp their homes for sheer enjoyment. It conducted a survey of homeowners and found that most are motivated to improve their abodes by personal enjoyment, rather than for financial gain.

In total, the firm polled 626 people about various home improvement choices and desires.  More than two-thirds of respondents (65 per cent) identified personal satisfaction and pleasure as the most important factor when it comes to modifying homes.

Just over one in ten of the people polled (14 per cent) said that increasing the value of their properties in order to prompt a sale would be the main motivation for modifying their houses or flats.

Director of Simply Extend Robert Wood remarked: “In an age where the focus has always been to add value to a property, it’s pleasing to see that people are prioritising the enjoyment the extra space that having an extension brings.

“Large open plan kitchen and diner extensions are proving popular amongst families, adding space to not only entertain in but also for the children to play in.”

However, it seems as though cost is deterring some consumers from making the alterations they would like. When asked what was putting them off making improvements to their home, 77 per cent of those surveyed said such projects were too expensive.

Consumers who fail to search for products online, whether they need a modern bathroom suite or anything else, may be missing a trick. There are some great value items available over the web, and this form of shopping is also quick and convenient.

Web-based retailers are often able to operate with lower overheads, and they can pass the savings they make onto their customers. This is one of the reasons why many financially savvy individuals prioritise the internet when they are seeking bargains.

Also, shopping over the web affords consumers more choice. Rather than being restricted to the items offered by their local retailers, they can search far and wide for the perfect items at the mere click of a button.

Demand for bathroom suites may be especially high at present in the UK. After all, winter is fast approaching and temperatures are already starting to fall. At this time of year, many people love to soak in luxurious bathtubs.
